Remove the EliteBar malware

Posted on March 11th, 2005, in the evening

It is with infinite gratitude that I pass on to you all this link to a removal tool for the EliteBar malware.

The King's Church laptop was utterly infested with spyware, malware, adware and every other kind of evil -ware when I started using it. I installed a range of removal software including Ad-Aware, SpyBot and the new Miscrosoft Anti-Apyware tool, even Hijack This for some blunt registry editing. All great software, and between them they dealt with the huge majority of the bugs afflicting the machine, but I just could not get rid of the EliteBar. Literally hours I spent, teetering dangerously on the brink of sanity for many of them...

Then along came EliteToolbar Remover 1.1.B. Simply restart your computer in 'Safe Mode' (press 'F8' and select 'Safe Mode' as as the machine is booting) then run the tool and... gone! Oh, the relief! The utter joy at running Hijack This and seeing no elitemk32 entry!!

Repeat after me: "We will not use Internet Explorer. Firefox is a better and more secure browser, and free to download".

What is this?
