I was thinking yesterday about how hard it is not to let it go to your head when leading worship goes well. Often in the past things like a broken string or some other kind of mistake brings me back to earth, but that's an artificial humility, and actually preserves the wrong-headed notion that it all depends on me. I've been praying that I find a way not to become arrogant in the first place.
This morning after the worship time I knew it had gone well, but didn't feel puffed up with "my success". There was lots of participation in the meeting, I did nothing spectacular, we worshipped and God was in the mix. I don't for a moment think the problem of pride in me is fixed, but I caught a glimpse of something different this morning.
