I've just been pointed in the direction of the band Bromhead's Jacket. They play an anecdotal-lyrics-set-to-energetic-lo-fi-punk kind of music. Same scene as Arctic Monkeys.
There are two free mp3s on the website. They're both good tracks, and one - Woolley Bridge - is moreover quite plainly a TUNE!
