The first Sunday of the uni term time. Our numbers accordingly shot up to over 300. Even having gone through the change several times now it's still a surreal experience to have the congregation triple in the space of three Sundays.
We're starting with a hymn to gather everyone together for these first few Sundays. One of the slightly less obvious effects of the increase in numbers is that people are arriving from all kinds of other traditions and don't necessarily know all the more contemporary songs we song. It's important to start on common ground.
It took people a song or two to get over the nervousness of the beginning of term but by 'I will worship' there was a rich sense of us doing just that.
