Worship Setlist - Oct 14, 2007

Posted on October 14th, 2007, in the afternoon

Sunday morning at Kings

  • In Christ alone - Stuart Townend, Keith Getty
  • We stand and lift up our hands - Chris Tomlin
  • Wonderful, so wonderful - Tim Hughes
  • Praise, my soul, the King of heaven - Henry Lyte, John Goss
  • King of Kings, majesty - Jarrod Cooper
  • All heaven declares - Noel and Tricia Richards
  • Far and near - Graham Kendrick
  • Our God is an awesome God - Rich Mullins

For various reasons I didn't feel the main set was quite as cohesive as sometimes this morning. The band sounded fantastic, the setlist was good, each song went well, but it didn't quite connect together. It's frustrating when all the ingredients are there but the bread doesn't rise.

As a counterpoint to that frustration, I was reading this morning in 1 Samuel about the time King Saul offered sacrifices disobediently and without Samuel. Samuel's rebuke is that "obedience is better than sacrifice."

It's always good to remember that true worship of God is not about good liturgy (whether that's the proper sacrifices or a satisfying Sunday morning setlist) but about obedience.

What is this?
