Sunday morning at Kings

The first Sunday of the academic year, which means lots of new students are looking around churches in Durham. It always tends to be one of our busiest weeks at Kings and this year was probably the busiest ever - around 380 people. The ballroom was packed!
I never usually feel nervous about the practicaulties of worship leading, but I really did leading up to this morning. I think that was the combination of the busy Sunday plus a guest speaker (Richard Cunningham from UCCF) plus probably still these early days in my new role at Kings. It took a lot longer than usual for me to feel happy with the setlist.
The extra work definitely paid off, though. 'To God be the glory' and 'Salvation belongs to our God' led really well to 'In the silence of beginning', which really caught this week.
I had a couple of options for response, and one of those routes really clicked with what Richard had shared with us. There were some great contributions in the last block of worship too - a brave thing to do with so many people in the room. 'Trust in God' is a very firm Kings favourite and perfectly tied together the various threads.
